Sketch-Up Models

First Pour Slab Model

Benefits of Sketchup Modeling

Sketchup Modeling was an important and integral part of the Slab on Grade Project. It showed its usefulness early on in the projects life by giving us the ability to view the slabs design on the site itself by overlaying the models on photos of the site.

Also during the design phase the models where used by our estimators and site superintendents to develop a presentation for the owners. The estimators where able to take the sketchup models and use the 3D models to do an accurate quantity takeoff. The concrete superintendents used the models to figure out how sequence the slab pour, and also determine the tools and equipment that would be necessary to complete the project.

During form erection the sketchup models continued to be useful by allowing the design team to easily provide slab and form details to the crew on the site. These details included forms splicing and staking details, rebar spacing details, and general plan views of the slab that the crew could work with and easily read.
