Pre-Construction Activities

Presentation to the Owners

March 23, 2012

Last Friday's formal presentation to the owners for the new AU Demo Lab marked the beginning of the implementation of the new Auburn BSCI Curriculum. The lab will be used to give students hands on experience in their classes starting in the Fall of 2012. The Project Superintendent, Branden Reagin, along with the Chief Estimator, Max Shoemaker, were the two key presenters to the owners.

Although the team gave a good presentation that included a Sketch-Up model, estimate, and site specific safety plan, their presentation did not meet the standards of the owners. The main concerns of the owners dealt with the quality and safety of the upcoming project.

First Estimate Draft

This original estimate was not detailed enough and did not meet the owners expectations. Max Shoemaker is developing two separate estimates. The first is a cost estimate that demonstrates all expenses incurred by the owner. The second is a complete estimate for the project, consisting of all items, including those that are donated or loaned by company employees.

This Friday, March 30, the team will give a final Pre-Construction presentation to the owners. The presenters will focus more on the mangerial aspect of the project in order to assure the owners that the job will be done one hundred percent effectively, professionally, and successfully.

The team hopes set the date of an 8' x 10' slab mock-up in order to prepare the workers for the project. They also hope to finalize the days for the actual concrete pour.
